One of four games played this month at the DWG was a scenario that was under development in the weeks leading up the game, a scenario to refight the local Battle of Pinhoe using Dux Bellorum.

As well as reporting on how the game went there is a link to a further post looking at a walk I did exploring the site of the battle as it looks today together with a PDF of the scenario for those who might like to have a go playing it.

If you would like to know more then you can read the AAR here on the DWG blog.

It was not until I did this sort of thing, that I appreciated why some rules use random movement each turn.
The ground may look nice and even from a distance but when actually trudging over it, the little dips and bumps, and long grass, and all that soon make any regular steady progress tricky at best.

    Nice looking game btw.

Especially if you’re sitting on Dobbin.

Too many rules, of all periods, allow far too much charging around on horseback without regard to the geography of the battlefield ๐Ÿ™‚

Obvious contrarian and passive aggressive old prat, who is taken far too seriously by some and not seriously enough by others.
