This year’s Battleground show takes place on Saturday 30th November at our usual venue of the Queen’s Campus Sports Hall in Stockton-on-Tees, TS17 6BH. The event runs from 10am until 3pm and once again running it’s FREE ENTRY for everyone! After the success of last year it made sense to keep this in place so we hope you will support us and head along!
As usual we’ll have a few new traders for this year, so keep an eye out for more information on those. We’re hoping to have close to 40 traders in total and you can check who’s coming on the Battleground website here: https://www.battlegroundshow.co.uk/traders
We always have a fantastic selection of display and participation games on offer, usually around 25 games in total. We’ll be sending the booking forms out to the games clubs in the next fortnight so keep checking the games lists here: https://www.battlegroundshow.co.uk/games
Our Tabletop Sale sells out every year so for this year we’ve had to limit bookings to only 4 slots per person (2 hours total). So for only £1.50 per half hour slot, you can sell as much as you like, with no commission at all! You deal directly with the buyers, answer any questions they may have, haggle over prices and get those unwanted goodies sold! Once your time is up (or better still, you’ve sold everything!), you can walk away, cash in hand, and enjoy the rest of the show! The bookings for the Tabletop will be open from September and they can be made through the contact section of the website: https://www.battlegroundshow.co.uk/contact
Last year we had some fantastic talks from Phil Philo of the Battlefields Trust and we’re hoping to have another selection for folks to enjoy. This year we might have some other guest speakers so keep an eye out for more updates on that.
All of the show info can be found on either the Battleground website here: http://www.battlegroundshow.co.uk/%5B/url%5D or our Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/BattlegroundShow?ref=hl If you’ve got any questions about the event, just let us know.
So, don’t forget to tell your friends about the FREE ENTRY and we’ll see you there!

Catering will be the same as last year, no worries there!
In 2018 we were very pleased to have the Battlefields Trust at our event, giving talks on local battles from the English Civil War. These were received extremely well, as was the fantastic Piercebridge model brought along by Mark Hornsby, so we’re hoping to keep these as a feature in our future shows. For 2019 we’ve got:
Civil Insolencies
The Battlefields Trust are pleased to announce the launch of the publication Civil Insolencies; poetry by Bob Beagrie. Civil Insolencies explores the events and characters involved in the lead up, conflict and aftermath of the Battle of Guisborough (16th January 1643).To accompany this, Phil Philo (Chair of the Battlefields Trust) will give a talk on the Battle of Guisborough, while the Battlefields Trust’s Model maker in residence, Mark Hornsby, will also be revealing his latest model for the Battle of Guisborough downstairs in the main hall.
Ready to Bleed
Arran Johnston (Director of the Scottish Battlefields Trust) will be attending Battleground to speak on both the armies of the Scottish Covenant and the Battle of Newburn Ford. He will be promoting his latest publication, Ready to Bleed: The Armies of the Scottish Covenant (1639-47) which describes the formation of the Covenant army, its campaigns, strengths and weaknesses, and will be released in December. He will also have copies of Essential Agony: The Battle of Dunbar available to purchase (available through Helion here: https://www.helion.co.uk/essential-agony-the-battle-of-dunbar-1650.html )Useful Links

Just back from a trip to Durham that incorporated a visit to Battleground 2019.I really enjoyed the show and took the chance to chat to traders and fellow gamers.
Came away with large amounts of MDF, paint and resin terrain plus a few metal pieces (the latter all from Pendraken, naturally )
If you get the chance to visit Battleground 2020 I heartily encourage you to do it.
There are some (88 apparently!) pictures on Imageshack, here:

Many cracking games in progress but I feel special mention must go to the Grimsby club for the inclusion of a German film show that included actual film footage on screen!!
The gent in armour choosing which box set to get, a knight choosing knights, too meta to miss 🙂 Thank you sir, whoever you were, for agreeing to pose.
Imageshack seems to enjoy messing up the order images should appear in but hopefully the signposts for games and the images thereof are close enough for you to work out what you are looking at.
