The Italian Beretta semi-automatic carbine issued at the end of the war, I am curious how they were actually issued and intended to be used (standard infantry weapon scattered about? Special units? Squad leaders? At Battalion commanders discretion? Lunch ladies?)

Anyone have anything concrete on this?

The Small Arms Review has a short piece on this weapon:

The Beretta Mod. 1918: Forgotten Weapon of the Italian Army

    All the best,

    John.

    Interesting thanks for sharing!

Do you (or anyone else) know if the Italians had platoon bombing sections like the French and British did, prior to the mentioned reorganisation?
