Who has this range of figures that included rangers, Delta, Somalis, and Afghan insurgents? They used to be Cannon Fodder, sold to Blaze Away, but they are not on the Blaze Away nor Lancashire websites. Would love to buy some (rangers, Delta, and Somalis) or would even consider buying the molds for that range to bring it back to life.

I don’t know a lot about these so sorry if this is really annoying but there are 15mm modern Special Forces and Enemies on the Blazeaway site – and they claim to be selling the Cannon Fodder range.

Are these not the right ones?

    Sorry if you’ve already checked.

No, you nailed it, those are indeed the figures in question…alas the page you link is to an old page on their site…one cannot add them to the cart.    The main page doesn’t show them, and they mention they are on hiatus.  But thanks for the link as it does give me the details as to what is/was available.

    Thanks!!!

It seems that as of 2012 they were not being produced due to issues with the moulds, costs and licencing questions – sounds like they may have have a licence to produce but not own the masters.

As a part time enterprise we need to be extra careful about where we splash the cash and it was decided that a complete revamp of all the CFM moulds was not affordable presently, plus there were licensing considerations etc. However, we are negotiating to buy outright some of the ranges with the intention of revamping them, one of which is the 15mm insurgents, Delta and so on. This has taken a bit longer to resolve than we intended unfortunately but negotiations are nearly (hopefully) complete.

As of 2013, their TMP entry read “We’ve recently decided to concentrate on our own ranges and no longer produce Cannon Fodder Miniatures. This may change sometime in the future.”

Blazeaway seems to have been acquired by Lancashire Games in 2014. My guess is that the modern ranges were a licenced production (don’t know who sculpted them – were they Anton’s) and it never went across, so the copyright would have gone back to the original sculptor/owner and the masters may have been lost.

    Thanks for the info, Geoff,

I believe they were sculpted by Greg Blake at CFM. And I doubt if he has any interest (if he has the molds and/or licensing) to produce the figures. He got out of the business several years ago now. Shame, his figures are really something else. The interwar 28mm Marines and Sailors as well as his Irish Rebellion figs were great.

Ah yes. Anton did the Vietnam range for Battlefront, then Flashpoint, and is now doing Warmaster and the infantry for Armies Army. (Nice chap, but tends to either get bored or distracted into other projects… Come to think of it…) 🙂

I suspect you you are right. It sounds like Greg only provided a licence to Blazeaway and they may never have completed the purchase of the range outright, in which case Lancashire probably didn’t take it on. If that’s the case, the Blazeaway moulds are probably gone and the master figures either lost or returned to Greg, who I suspect has no interest in doing anything with them. Probably worth asking him if he is still about.

I just need to find a way to contact Greg, win the lottery to buy the masters, and BAM, a new miniatures company hits the market!
