So, people who for whatever reason know a bit about me, know I only do one thing at a time in terms of gaming.
For years that was 6mm sci-fi, then after years of just that it is 15mm fantasy.

BUT….   I have just ordered a few Celtos figures from Brigade Models.  LINK.

Anyone play Slaine style games and if so, what rules would you recommend?

Celtos itself is a “small unit” game, which is what I define as that category of game in between single-model-activation skirmish/adventure games and massed battle games. Popular small unit fantasy games right now include SAGA Age of Magic, Warlords of Erehwon and Dragon Rampant. Is that the kind of thing you’re looking for?

If you want more of a skirmish/adventure game, what’s wrong with Burning Sands?

Of course, for actual Slaine gameplay, there’s the 2000AD ruleset from Warlord Games. So far it covers Strontium Dog and Judge Dredd, but I expect they’re planning to add Slaine at some point down the line.

Are you particularly keen to use new rules? Otherwise, as Rhoderic says, why not Burning Sands Peat? Modify the playing area and distances, few new skills/spells, warp-spasm for example, and off on a cattle raid…

    That’ll work!

Yep those Celtos figures always try and tempt me into 28mm too.

I even went and made myself a 15mm Slaine to help me resist.😉

To be honest, having just started gathering minis to do some Slaine adventures I was thinking of starting either with Burning Sands or Rangers of Shadow Deep and tweeking either till it fit.

So I wouldn’t mind at all if you’d care to do the heavy lifting to bring Slaine into Burning Sands😎

    Cheers,

    stroezie.

Yeah, I guess modding BS would work.

    What rules would be needed?

    Warp Spasm as an ability.
    Chariot rules.
    More creatures, which sorts?

Holy poop. Compared to my normal stuff, these are bloody massive. If I can get over my trepidation, I wonder if my 15mm style will work on 28mm. Will they look good or terrible…

And we could have the hillbilly version: “Soggy Bottoms”. With a “squeal like a pig” action card. 😀

We get slapped around, but we have a good time!
