[Angel Barracks]

I played the early ones a few years back and was underwhelmed.

What are the last few like?
Is it all about the online multiplayer?

Just saw this.

I buy COD games for the campaigns and to play offline against bots, either on my own or (more commonly) with my kid.

Looking just at the ones for current-gen systems, my super quick remarks is:

Ghosts – Campaign is bad, “MP” against the bots decent but nothing remarkable though I liked a lot of the maps.
The “extinction” mode where you battle aliens is fantastic if you can play it with a friend.

Advanced Warfare – Campaign is rather good and it has Kevin Spacey chewing the camera.
MP against the bots not amazing. I didn’t like the weapons a lot and while the jumping movement feels great and weighty, it looks stupid.
DIdn’t like the zombie mode.

Black Ops 3 – Loved the campaign. Great cyberpunk story with plenty of weirdness and when you beat it, you can replay it as a zombie story.
You can co-op the campaigntoo, which is amazing. A lot of cool powers to use.
MP against the bots was great. Combat flows wonderfully. Reminds me a lot of Unreal TOurnament. The classes were not a great addition though.

Infinite Warfare (just out). Campaign is ****ing amazing. Space battles, a choice of missions, good acting. Awesome.
The MP seems great so far. Very “space marines”, fast but weighty, lots of cool gadgets to play with.

So..yeah. If you are on console, you can get the old ones for cheap on ebay, so I’d check them out. The campaigns are only about 8-10 hours though they usually have some replay potential, if you like the bot matches, you can get way more out of them and they’re cheap now.

And that’s all without going online at all, ever.
