ParticipantThanks for a great overview of the convention Mark, with some great games and periods on display and well done on winning (another?) PELA award!

ParticipantI endorse what Steve said.
You put on fantastic games and I can understand if you felt tired, it sounds like you never stopped! Congratulations on the award, thoroughly deserved.
I saw the Little Wars review of the Convention and it was a little downbeat about numbers attending. You obviously had no trouble attracting players and I can see why. Did it feel generally a bit down on attendance to you?

ParticipantInteresting seeing the difference between this and the Hammerhead show I visited.
The only thing I have been to like this in the U.K. are Star Trek conventions years ago for size and the only ‘show’ I can think of that is similar (games / talks) is COW by Wargame Developments but that’s way way smaller and no trade stands.
Fascinating report – big thanks for the glimpse of a different world.

Thanks Steve, and yes, it was my 2nd PELA, so nice of you to notice. Glad you enjoyed the post!

I guess that’s true – but I look at these events as opportunities to maximize as much as I can. I also saw the LWTV video. I did not see any of their (HAWKS) games. Numbers did seem down, but the HAWKS room was prettier busy and I had plenty of players. I do know it’s very difficult to find a venue that pleases everyone, but clearly this venue turned off a number of gamers. Or perhaps another convention drew them away…

ParticipantI have agree with everyone – thanks for posting all your photos and writeups. And yes, absolute congratulations on another PELA. Certainly well deserved.
I did notice, right at the end, a WW1 game of Russians versus Austrians, using – if I am reading it correctly – a ruleset called “Fall of Eagles”. I’ve never heard of those; has anyone else? Or are they homebrew? Or, and more probably, I’m misunderstanding and that’s just the name of the scenario being put on for the convention?
