The next video in my series about Commands and Colors Napoleonics is the Battle of Rolica Part two, it’s played solo but should give you a good idea of how the game is played, please enjoy it here (and subscribe!):

Nicely done.  I’ve often wondered how C&C worked and now I know.  I can see why it has such a strong following.

Cheers buddy, I am glad you liked the video and it was helpful. C&C is a great system, don’t expect a simulation, but a great game with a period skin. All of the ones I have played have been good fun.

Both your videos inspired me to break out my copy and play the first Rolica Battle solo also.  Good fun!  Thanks for the inspiration.

Cheers James, I am so glad to hear that this inspired you to try it out solo. How did it go? I really enjoy playing C&C solo and it means that I actually get to put it on the table.

Hi again.  Sorry for the delay replying, I try not to spend too much time on forums.  The game played very smoothly!  I dare say C&C is one of the best systems for solo wargames.  I did tweak things a bit with two major changes.  First, I followed an idea presented in one of your You-tube comments, in that after playing a command card, I also discarded a random card from the same hand.  I then waited to draw two new cards until the start of that sides next turn.  In this way I had less idea of what that side might try to do on their next turn.  It greatly enhanced the fog of war even playing both sides!  The second thing I did, was perhaps a bit harsh, but I didn’t have anyone to offend but myself.  🙂  I decided that once one of the object points on either flank was reached by the allies, then the battle on that flank was essentially over, with the French pulling back to prevent their flank being turned.  Sort of a refused flank idea.  This happened approximately mid-game with the Portuguese allies reaching their objective.  After that all action was focused on the French Right & Center for the reminder of the game.  It shortened the game a bit, but “felt right” to me.  Thanks again for the inspiration.  I will definitely be trying C&C solo again.
