Mrs Anvil-Barracks (sounds like a Hobbit!!) wants to know what to get me for my birthday.
I don’t need anything so am thinking maybe something Conan ish?
I did fancy a nice wall map, but the only big one I saw had Turan stretching in a different way to REH’s map, so was not keen.
Any suggestions for cheap Conan gifts?01/11/2018 at 09:57 #102879Count BelisariusParticipant
Crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of their women?
Doesn’t need wrapping…

How about a t-shirt with the frezzeta chained painting on it? Get the image and ask at a tshirt shop? Not sure if it’s legal though lol01/11/2018 at 12:22 #102895cmnashParticipant
One of Rapier Miniatures t-shirts :
these have been given to me several times over the last few years … the “Wargames Rules, I can explain them to you, but I can’t understand them for you” is the next on my list …

Ha, I like that.01/11/2018 at 20:38 #102938PaulParticipant
What about the collected editions of The Savage Sword od Conan? Prime fodder for Hyborian Age scenarios and a great gread.

There are audio books by Tantor Media of the three volume Conan collection that came out from Del Rey about 10 years ago. Solomon Kane and Kull also get the audiobook treaments. I think as mp3’s you can get them on a single disk, I got the regular CD versions, still pretty decent prices. Other than female voices being done by the reader, they’re pretty good, include the essays that came with the books.01/11/2018 at 23:17 #102954Mike HeaddenParticipant
How about a nice Cimmerian sword (latex not steel so you aren’t going to find some toddler has used it to decapitate the cat, or whatever!)
Hang it above your desk for inspiration!
Also, I second Rapier’s t-shirts. I have their “That which doesn’t kill you gives you XP” one.

Another book to consider is Hyborian Heresies by Dale Ripke He analyzes R.E. Howard’s Conan stories and the original timeline that Howard made for Conan’s adventures. He also iplacess the previously unpublished stories that were not part of the original draft of Conan’s lifetime into it based on internal clues in the stories. In addition to Conan’s life he delves into the background of Hyboria and Conan’s character as written by Howard.

I always have the impression that this thread is about Conan’s daughter (“merch” in Welsh, “merc’h” in Breton)…
After all there’s been a film about “D’Artagnan’s daughter”, so why not.
