An AAR of the second part of our narrative driven mini-campaign set in the SYW, using Black Powder rules once again. Another fun and entertaining game, details of which can be found on my Blog. To whet your appetite, some pics below as well. Hope you like it.

Thanks, enjoyed the narrative, it was indeed tight. Sounds like Dave and yourself have a relaxed and enjoyable approach to gaming, which I like. As I have said previously, I am glad that you have been highlighting these rules as being suitable for the smaller game. I had the rulebook when it first cam out and sold it because I thought it was just a ‘big game’ set. I would like to have another look at them now.
Hi Norm,
Glad you enjoyed the AAR. We do have a relaxed take on the games we play, as after all we want to have fun. Dave has attended staff college as part of his Royal Marine training, so knows at first hand how ‘dull’ simulation rules can be. So if a unit is a few millemtres away from contact at the end of its move, but the contact would add to the game, we just move them into contact. Tournament players at this point would probably be having a fit…
I too sold the rules first time round after some poor experiences at the club with big games and chaps throwing the toys out of the pram. I got back into them after playing with a new wargaming chum, the difference in the experience was remarkable. They are not to everyones taste, but then what rules are, but they can handle the big multi-player game or a small game such as ours on a 4’x4′ table with around 10 units per side.
TTFN,
Steve J.
