Browsing through some old Miniature Wargames magazines, I noticed a scenario for the French Wars of Religion battle of Coutras 1587. Seeing that I will never own truly appropriate armies for this conflict, I thought I would use the scenario as the basis for a fictional ECW battle. This is how I got on: http://hereticalgaming.blogspot.co.uk/2016/03/polemos-ecw-battle-coutras-1587-re.html

Nice report and a great idea to retheme the battle to what you already have. I really must learn this skill! How do you find the Polemos: ECW rules? Do they feel right for the period? I’ve played Polemos:GNW a lot and wondered if there are any significant differences in feel that reflect the different periods.

Never argue with an idiot. They'll only drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Thanks very much Ruarigh. I like the Polemos ECW rules although it would be hard for me to say that they have the right feel, I don’t think that I have enough feel for the period to judge. It all feels very plausible so to that extent, yes. I am afraid I haven’t played Polemos GNW, but these rules seemed a lot closer in style to the Polemos SPQR ancient rules than to the Polemos Napoleonic rules. I have had a few games with Polemos ECW now so I will try to review them properly in the next few weeks.

Ah, ok. Well, I have the rules and I have the armies sitting unpainted so I am now encouraged to return to them to try them out. Thanks.
