Hi! I really like forums like this one and I hate Facebook, especially Facebook groups. It’s really hard to find a subject you posted earlier in a Facebook group. In a forum it’s easy.
I would like to create a forum for outdoor sports fan. For example; I would like my members to go on my forum and create their own outdoor activity or join activities created by other members. I would like those activities to be the focus of my future forum and bring people out to meet face to face.
If you like hiking, you could go on my forum and create an event in the calendar saying hiking Sunday the 3th of June at 9:00AM and add little details.
You could also scroll the calendar to see all the events that have been created by other members.
There will also be some discussion sections of course but I would like the focus to be on the activities list.
What should be my next priorities when creating this forum? How can I convince people to come on my forum instead of Facebook? Do you have any tips about this or is it a waste of time?
Thanks!
Would something like ‘GROUPS IO’ meet all your needs? Might be an easier path.

What is this exactly? Do you have a link?
Groups. IO is what used to be yahoo groups. http://www.groups.io
I would second Groups. IO. I’m on several and get the emails. Because I get my emails automatically downloaded to my machine rather than doing stuff on line (because that way I can still access them when the broadband is slow or goes down) it means that I don’t even have to go and look at stuff on the group. It comes to me

Groups IO is good. Another option is Discord.
