    All,

It’s 0515 on 1 Feb 1990, and the CLA SOF’S C Squadron has been dispatched to destroy a key regime Communications Center aboard a military base in Santiago de Cuba, at the east end of the island.

The protagonists: a Command stand, four SOF Teams, 2 Popular Force teams, and an 84mm Carl Gustav rocket team.

The target is the Communications Center for the entire Cuban Army, located deep in the heart of the Santiago de Cuba Army base. The SOF teams are infiltrating the Cuban Army base with assistance of local Popular Force members of the CLA, who are co-optees that are civilian workers and members of the Cuban Army stationed at Santiago de Cuba. The SOF teams infiltrated Cuba months ago, and are now set to be smuggled aboard the military base in ‘borrowed’ Cuban Army trucks.

The antagonists: members of the 31st Infantry Company, 9th Cuban Infantry Battalion, responsible for physical security of the Cuban Army Communications Center, which has its own perimeter within the confines of the military installation. They have a Command Stand, five rifle teams, an HMG team, and an MMG team.

Overview, north is up. The Comm Center is at top center, with the Command Post at top right. At top, the bunkers are, from left to right, Bunkers 1, 2, and 3. At the southern end of the table are three Cuban Army barracks, left to right, Barracks 1, 2, and 3. The CLA SOF are at bottom left, entering in three Cuban Army trucks. The MMG team is in B1, the HMG in B2, with rifle teams in the Comm Center and B3 and the Command Stand next to the Comm Center. The three remaining regime rifle teams will enter the board at random locations once the shooting starts.

The CLA forces steel closer to their objective…

Then spring from their trucks onto the unsuspecting garrison. A short, sharp firefight ensues.

    More to come.

    Hola Comandante Jack:

How dare you send that Gringo assassin Jack Bauer (AKA Bosanova) against the sovereign nation of Cuba! And then like cowards you sneak onto our base and kill our loyal Cuban soldiers as they come out of their barracks to see what’s going on. Then you shoot missiles at any and everything and blow up a radio and communications centre. When this is done, you flee into the countryside, like the cowards you are! Fidel will make you pay for your unprovoked aggression and bandit-like behaviour you Yankee, imperialist, running-dog capitalist, war-mongers. The people of Cuba will have their revenge for such brigandry and wanton violence against a peaceful, socialist nation.  Viva Cuba!

in all seriousness, Jack, another great game and a grand report. The conspicuous lack of hills was greatly appreciated and bodes well for future flat-out fights. I did miss the end of report, post-game analysis which you usually offer. Overall an excellent and very engaging bit of reportage. Thanks Jack.

    Kyoteblue:

    Beep, …. beep, ….beep, …. beep,…..beep!

Cheers guys and good, no, great gaming!

    Rod Robertson.

Kyote – Thanks man, three more on the way.

Rod: “How dare you send that Gringo assassin…”
    Oh, I dare.

“…like cowards you sneak onto our base and kill our loyal Cuban soldiers as they come out of their barracks to see what’s going on. Then you shoot missiles at any and everything and blow up a radio and communications centre.”
    Whatever works.

“Fidel will make you pay for your unprovoked aggression and bandit-like behaviour…” and “The people of Cuba will have their revenge…”
    I doubt it.

    “…a peaceful, socialist nation.”
    Puh-lease…

    “Viva Cuba!”
On this I actually agree, but for different reasons, obviously 😉

Anyway, thanks for taking a look and taking the time to comment, and I’m glad you liked it.  Don’t worry, the hills will be right back, and are a key feature of some upcoming fights.  Regarding the end of game analysis, sorry, I was just moving so quickly to get the next one written up.  I’ll try to get back to developing the story a bit more.  The next two fights are the CLA Paratrooper battalions (seizing a bridge in the west and the other seizing a key hilltop near the Bay of Pigs), then the 1st Marine Company making an amphibious assault.

Summer’s about here, you should have plenty of time to figure out this blogging thing and get you’re own stuff posted for us to ogle 😉

    V/R,
    Jack
