ParticipantSci-fi shows and Zombie shows can easily be made into games and have relevance here. Especially as the 2 shows mentioned have games made about them. John Peel and Iggy Pop do not, neither does football. Please keep your posts related to gaming.
So why do you have threads for

None of these are about wargaming.
I agree with you about football. But the good-natured post of mine you deleted was about Rugby League.

KeymasterNone of these are about wargaming.
I never said wargaming.
I said gaming.
Films and TV can be related to gaming, as mentioned above.
The Walking Dead has a game made about it, Defiance has a game made about it.
As far as I am aware, John Peel does not, nor Iggy Pop.If you want your members to adhere to rules you need to state clearly what the rules are.
I am not sure how this could be much clearer:
This is a games site.
Please try and keep the talk around games and gaming related things.21/10/2014 at 10:20 #11002John D Salt
ParticipantWell, there’s the John Peel sweet-eating game:

…and Iggy Pop, according to his wikipedia entry, has a character based on him in the Super Mario Bros series of computer games.
All the best,
John.

ParticipantI apologise for my last post , it was done after returning from the pub.
It appears though that I totally misunderstood the purpose of The Wargames Website, silly me thought it was going to be about wargaming.
Perhaps you should change change it to The Gaming (ie: any old thing like Ludo, Snap, Games Workshop, online shoot em ups, but definitely not gaming as in the sense of gambling because that’s different) Website.

If you thought it was about wargaming, why post about Rugby and Music?

ParticipantEnjoying season 2 of Defiance and season whatever (5?) of The Walking Dead. Anyone else watching these?
Watching them both and very much enjoying the pair of them. Also looking forward to the start of Dominion on SyFy at the end of the month. I’m also following AHS: Freakshow (just started), The Last Ship (a little bit overly USA! at times), The Strain (excellent) and of all things the Kojak reruns on ITV4 in the afternoons. The old Sky+ box is brimming with good stuff. As for all the superhero shows, they are not my cup of tea but if you like them then more power to you 😉

That is very disingenuous and ill informed of you, the basic fundamentals of war-gaming concept come from the games of Ludo and Snap. Donald Featherstone was always using cards in his war-games as a way of introducing random events as an example. Games Workshop while not my favorite firm has introduced a lot of people to this hobby, yes there figures I personally feel are overpriced but there are lots of people out there who would disagree with me. This hobby has grown and still grows but it thrives on input and new ideas, whilst some I don’t agree I would not bad mouth them as it is all one hobby. I played Ludo with my grandson when he was 5 and then at 7 we played a very basic WW2 war-game, he said half way though the game this is just like Ludo but with tanks granddad (out of the mouth of babes).
Just found this quote “Clausewitz wrote his famous line:” In the whole range of human activities, war most closely resembles a game of cards.
Sir you seem to be saying that if you do not think its is war-gaming it should be not be allowed to be mentioned. When I first started in this hobby we had enamel paint, Airfix and if you were lucky lead figures, so have we advanced in this hobby or gone backwards with the internet, more firms selling hard plastic war-game figures, acrylic paint and washes. I know what I think but that is my opinion. I think myself as an historical war-gamer but I like sci/fi and fantasy some of the figures and concepts are brilliant, it is called cross pollination.
Solo war-gaming is a fascinating and self satisfying concept, you have no one to argue with and you never lose a battle.

ParticipantAye. I do like the way the new season of Defiance has taken things from the game. Makes me feel more invested in the show. I am wondering if the Volge will show up…
IMO Defiance has really hit its stride this series (and series three has been greenlit as well!), I’m unfamiliar with the game are the two still interacting with each other? For me the great attraction of this show is the Farscape vibe it has, which is to be expected given that Rockne S. o’Bannon is involved in the production. As for the Volge, perhaps less is more? I wouldn’t want them to become as overused as the Daleks or Cybermen have on NuWho.

KeymasterI am not sure if they still are, I haven’t played the game for a while.
But many of the games story characters have been in the show as have things like the EGO device and so on.
There was a competition within the game that 2 players could have their players in show, or maybe it was that they could be in show. either way pretty cool and interactive!I like that it is quite dark and does not shy away from things like drug use and prostitution and all manner of things.
Star Trek it is not!😀
