    I had a couple of attempts at refighting Ashdown 871 AD https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Ashdown today to mark my return to gaming after a brief (work-related) hiatus: http://hereticalgaming.blogspot.co.uk/2015/09/battle-of-ashdown-871ad.html

    I’d be quite interested if any DBA players could offer any tactical advice for handling “Dark Age” armies, I feel my attempts at using them are particularly unsubtle.  I’d especially appreciate any advice on how to use foot skirmishers in open terrain.

    Interesting refight, I am considering a Saxon / Viking / Norman army and you have pushed DBAv3 to the front of my mind. I like the dense packing of troops on your bases.

    Thanks.  I will hopefully be doing some other Anglo-Saxon/Danish/Norman battles soon, I’ll stick up the AARs when I can.
