Visited Newark at the weekend, popped into the National Civil War Museum (pleasant enough, but not worth a long journey), and the Queen’s Sconce. Sealed Knot were playing out in the park at the Sconce.
Always wondered why there are two ECW reenactment groups – Sealed Knot and ECW Society? Google hasn’t helped, other than ECWS broke away from SK. Why? Some grave scandal? Internal politics? Or an amicable difference of opinion/direction?
Just being nosey I guess.
I used to be in the ECWS, but some time after the split happened. I have always understood that it was at least partly due to internal politics.
By the way, the ECWS is actually an umbrella group for two organisations, the Kings Army and the Roundhead Association. You might find that they split from the Sealed Knot separately.
