Has anyone any idea what the English Jacobites – mainly Horse? – raised in the ’15 might have looked like? There is a picture of some Lowland Horse in the relevant Osprey, but I am guessing that English Jacobites might not have worn a blue bonnet or similar?
I’d imagine that they’d look very like other English horse.
Obvious contrarian and passive aggressive old prat, who is taken far too seriously by some and not seriously enough by others.

Red coat, tricorne hat with edging, random facing colour?

I was thinking more of the cut of the clothing rather than the colour

Ah, got you. Thanks.
As the Jacobites were generally trying to present themselves as entirely legitimate I’d say their typical uniform colours would be red. As in the Glorious revolution period in Ireland.
There's 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary and those who don't.....
I’d go for civilian clothes colours in the main. Some may have had retained uniform coats from previous military service and they could be worn. Not just British ones, Service in France and elsewhere was not unknown.
These men were Gentry and their more prosperous tenants who own horses and can ride. They would have better clothes than most of the infantry.
As to bonnets I don’t know. Some say the English Jacobite infantry wore them. If so the cavalry could have.
