    Hi all, I don’t know if this is still active…

    I’ve been trying out different rulesets for 15mm scifi and Tomorrow’s war came highly recommended.

    So I got hold of the rulebook and set out some miniatures to run through some of the concepts used in the first tutorial mission.

    I laid out two fireteams of “Marines”, one deployed in cover, and the other in the open. Three teams of “Militia”, one of which deployed hidden in cover so i could try out the ambush rules.

    I think i have the hang of the unit characteristics/weapons/dice but the reaction system is confusing for my poor old brain. I’m not sure i’m quite getting it, here is a condensed walkthrough the timings

    Marine Initiative

    ·          Marine Bravo team activates overwatch action

    ·          Marine Alpha team activates move and fire action

    o    Militia Group 2 declares fire reaction to Alpha team’s action

    o    Militia Group 1 declares move reaction to Alpha team’s action

    o    Overwatch tests resolve before reaction tests;

    o    Bravo team rolls overwatch test against Group 2 and fails – overwatch fire will be resolved after Group 2 reaction. Bravo team loses overwatch status after overwatch fire is resolved.

    o    Bravo team rolls overwatch test against Group 1 and passes – overwatch fire resolved before Group 1 reaction

    o    Reaction tests;

    o    Group 2 rolls reaction test against Alpha team’s action and fails – reaction resolved after Alpha team action.

    o    Group 1 rolls reaction test against Alpha team’s action and passes – reaction resolved before Alpha team action.

    o    Overwatch round of fire -> Group  1 move reaction;

    o    Bravo team fires overwatch at Group 1 and causes casualties

    o    Group 1 passes morale test and non-casualties fire back in round of combat failing to cause any casualties

    o    Group 1 takes move reaction

    o    Alpha team action;

    o    Alpha team takes move and fire action

    o    Ambush;

    o    Movement brings Group 3 into spotting range and Alpha team must roll to spot hidden units (ambush rules). Alpha team fails to spot hidden ambush.

    o    Bravo team cannot declare overwatch against Group 3 ambush as Alpha team is in the LOS

    o    Group 3 passes ambush test and fires before Alpha team in the round of fire

    o    Group 3 causes 3 casualties and Alpha team fails morale test becoming pinned. Quality die is shifted down from D8 to D6 for remained of turn. Cannot reach cover so rolls quality test to get “in cover” and passes. Non-casualties return fire in the ambush round of fire failing to cause any casualties.

    o    As Alpha team is pinned it may not complete its move and fire action.

    o    Group 2 Reaction round of fire -> Overwatch round of fire

    o    Group 2 fire reaction round of fire begins, Alpha team wins round of fire and fires first with non-casualties (D6) failing to cause any casualties.

    o    Group 2 completes round of fire, causing 1 casualty and wiping out Alpha team

    o    Bravo team fires overwatch fire at Group 2 (at -1 FP from previous overwatch) causing two casualties

    o    Group 2 fails morale becoming pinned. Quality die cannot be shifted down form D6. Cannot test to get “in cover” and cannot return fire in the round of fire.

    o    Overwatch fire resolved so Bravo team loses overwatch status

    ·          All marine units have activated

    ·          All Militia units have reacted

    ·          End of Turn
