Exeter Legionary 2023 is on for MAY 13TH 2023.

Legionary has been run by the Exmouth Imperials for several years now, and hope to make the show even bigger and the most varied wargames event in the area. We always have many wargames traders selling historical, fantasy and sci fi figures, rules and terrain; several demonstration or participation games (and room for more), and the usual huge and busy bring and buy. So if you want to buy, sell, play or just look at wargames in May there’s no better place in England.

Exmouth Imperial Wargames Society is a wargames club that has been running for about 20 years in Exmouth, East Devon.  We play a wide range of games – historical, fantasy and science fiction – and all scales. We’d welcome more players so if you’re in the area, feel free to pop in.

Looking forward to the show James, I have contacted Brett and I am putting on a 30mm 18th century game (was going to be Molwitz but I am going to do a different game “A bridge too far”).

Ran Molwitz at PAW in February and it played well, as Legionary is a one day event a faster type of game is required.

Is there a list of demo games available, as that is my primary interest in visiting shows?

There’s a list on the Legionary Wargames Show Exeter Facebook group; not in an easily copied format though. I’ll see what I can do!

Tiny point – Charles Grant didn’t write the book ‘Charge!’ (or the rules in it). Young and Lawton.

Or ‘The War Game’ by Grant.

I have been misquoted whilst Charles Grant Peter Young; Colonel J. P. Lawford were the  inspiration for this wargame the game is based on an idea by Dinos Antoniadis.  Originally I was going to game the battle of Mollwitz based on the Charles Grant game in the “wargame”, however whilst it’s a good game to play over a weekend it’s not the best to play at a one day event.  I am using my own one page set of 18th century rules for this game.

As I changed the game a couple of months ago I think the information got mixed up in translation.

I give you a new model of the 2nd in command of the Prussian forces, Prince Dimwit a man who judges military leadership competency by the size of his cuffs and plume.  All hail the order of the feather.
