ParticipantNew blog post and a new period to boot:
Plus does anyone here know if Warrior will match Peter Pig in height & heft? I could use a trial ACW figure or two if anyone has any knocking about.

ParticipantPeter Pig are about the same height and slightly lighter build. They also have Cenfederates in (the far more common) shell jackets which Warrior don’t do. In fact a fair number of manufacturers put Rebs in sack coats with turn down collars which hardly any of them wore.

Thanks. I looks like I should order a few sample packs.

Oh no! Wrong uniform. Doh! They’ll just have to be fantasy Confederates.

We get slapped around, but we have a good time!

ParticipantThere is a good review of figures at https://www.deepfriedhappymice.com/html/acw.html
I wonder if you keep them in different units if anyone would notice? With my eyes I struggle to tell differences while painting let alone three+ feet away!!!

…not necessarily. Look at the coat collars. If they are stand up then they can be frock coats cut down as sack coats which the Rebs did use. Probably organised by tailors within the ranks.

ParticipantYou made me go digging. Found this – http://adolphusconfederateuniforms.com/the-confederate-depot-sack-coat-an-overlooked-garment.html
No mention of regimental tailors though.

ParticipantGenerally speaking Confederate officers didn’t have shoulder tabs, they were a Union/regular army thing. Instead they had braided knots above the cuffs.

ParticipantLiked the unintentional pun.
I know but if you think I’m painting free hand Austrian knots in 15 mm you’re crackers! Plus I’ve only painted shoulder tabs on one figure not all and the other general figure has cast epaulettes so I wasn’t going to cut them off.

Participant…who says it was unintentional.
Luckily most of my officer figures wear gauntlets
