A scenario for Hellfire. Two probably balanced sides (perhaps) rushing for the same objective. Is it worth just taking the casualties to get there first?

Get your feet wet with a combined arms scenario 🙂

That is an inspiring bit of scenery.  There was a post-apoc book I read awhile ago, where the world went south rather rapidly.  No zombies or anything; engineered microbe ate all the oil.

The book had the last bits of civilization in the UK based on the North Sea oil platforms.

Can’t remember the book’s name, but might be fun to use that model for a scenario.  Although Jim’s looks like more fun!

I think with this sort of scenario it’s whatever grabs your attention and looks cool 🙂
The two things that matter are the timing and distances in the scenario.
But less obviously and almost equally important is that the ships are strongest on broadside. So to drive off the enemy interceptors they ought to turn broadside on, which of course could mean they don’t arrive at the research station first 🙂

Oh!  I’m missed that!  I mean, I saw the archaic style boat, and the broadsides, but it didn’t occur to me the effect it would have in the scenario.  Lovely!  I like those kinds of decisions in a game.

Mind you, I read a lot of rules, and have played a lot of rules, but even with that experience, I still need to actually need to push some lead around a table to grasp all the subtleties.

And you know Jim, if I were to collect all the suggested figures and models for all the scenarios you’ve made, I’d have the most eclectic, wierd and wonderful SF collection. Sadly my figures are far more prosaic, but you’re always giving me ideas.

Nothing wrong with prosaic if the dreams are good 🙂

Yes I see stuff and go ‘wow’ because they start hares running and ideas come 🙂

Same here.  I’m currently besotted with the boardgame ‘Zombicide’.  Having bought every official element of the game I’ve now turned to 3D printed and MDF scenery to bring a more ‘realistic’ look to the 2D terrain tiles.  But I’ve gone further, with 1:43 scale vehicles inspiring various tweaks.

Police vehicles, ambulances, a French horse meat butcher’s van, a loudspeaker truck (if they can’t see you they move to the loudest noise source), a bulldozer etc., they all set off extra missions in my mind, and then onto the tabletop.  Browsing eBay’s 1:43 lists has revealed companies that make die cast models of various Tour de France promotional caravan vehicles.  I found a truck that looks like two butane gas bottles.  It’ll kill a lot of zombies when it goes up!

It is surprising what does grab you, I’m a sucker for ‘alternative SF vehicles’ and ‘different’ infantry 🙂
