    Dear All,

Last night we trialled ‘Form Line of Battle’ with a scenario of Dogger Bank 1781. I realise this post properly belongs in 18th Century but as its kind of a follow on from my ‘Trafalgar’ post I’ll keep it here – the reason we played FLOB this week was to compare and contrast with the ‘Trafalgar’ rules we used last week…

And yes, I was impressed – actually not much more complicated than Traf, and a whole lot more exciting and fun! Alan’s blog post here:

Yes mate very elegant rules – simple yet open to complex subtleties – if that makes sense!

Cheers for the post, interesting and lovely to see some naval action.  As an ex Navy man I really should invest more in than one naval warfare game (“Wooden ships and iron men”).  The only other one I had and played was “Sea strike” I wonder if its still out there.

Very good looking battle. I like the textured looking sea-scape. Thanks for sharing.

Can I ask what company are the ships from?

Yes the ships are all from Alan’s collection so from Skytrex, although they’re pretty old so he’s had to ‘jury-rig’ many of the masts and sails. To my mind they’re very slightly under scale compared to 1200 Langtons, but much cheaper. Or they were…
