ParticipantWith the failed attack by Pz KG Klug Capt Klug has been demoted to Lt. Capt Hassel will lead his heavy Pz IV company against the Russians . The Germans will have a heavy tank company with Arty support along with a dismounted Panzer Inf. squad. They will not have air support. The C in C and 2 in C in Pz IV’s two Pz platoons of 2 and 3 Pz IV’s an Arty platoon of 4 105mm towed guns and a 7 stand platoon of dismounted Pz Inf. ( they are Confident Trained) in trucks. What is left of Pz KG Klug 2 Pz III’s 2 Pz IV’s and the 1 , Armored car, are now under Capt Hassel’s command.
The Russians will have no reinforcements but will get 2 of the 3 destroyed 45 mm AT guns and two more minefields .
The battlefield will be the same.
I’m a bit hungover so will start the game tomorrow.

ParticipantCapt Hassel , takes the 2 Pz IV’s from Lt. Klug and groups them with the HQ tank. This will mean that with the 2 in C joining the 2 tank platoon there will be three 3 Pz IV platoons. That way when they fire as Arty they will not have to re-roll hits. This will give the Germans one fixed and three mobile Arty platoons to blast the Russians out of their entrenchments. The two Pz III and Armored car will try to counter the Russian tanks and armored cars. Lt Klug is not happy with his assignment.
The Russians under Col Sokolove have laid two more mine fields repaired 2 of the destroyed 45mm AT guns and hidden the remaining tanks and armored cars.
Neither side will get air support.
If Col. Sokolove can hold out for one more game, he will be awarded Hero of the Soviet Union.

ParticipantIn glorious Red Army there are only victors and traitors. I am confident Comrade Sokolove will be the former.

ParticipantGerman turn 1, Germans move onto the board from left to right, Pz III platoon with 8 rad AC, HQ Pz IV platoon , 2 in C with Pz IV platoon, Pz IV platoon. Pz Crew Inf platoon in trucks. Arty spotter in halftrack. German Arty ranges in on the Russian left Inf platoon but takes 3 trys to range in so skill goes to 5 or 6 to hit. scores 4 hits 2 Russians save 2 do not, arty rolls fire power and score one kill. Russian Inf is pinned down.
I’ll play the Russian turn 1 tomorrow.

ParticipantThanks for not mentioning any of the Russian tanks by name. I once again cruised the ebay store for BT-7 and T-26s. Along with a T-35 or two, I could easily spend a couple of hundred dollars there just on the early Russian armour. But I did not…yet.

ParticipantNow now The 13 Trans- Siberian Rifle Regiment’s mascot is a goat but lets not get too excited.
07/01/2015 at 20:07 #15236kyoteblue
ParticipantRussian turn 2, Col Sokolove’s 13 Trans-Siberian Rifle Reg. pinned Inf. platoon rolls and un-pins. The Germans are still out of range of the AT guns so only the Russian Arty can fire. It ranges in on the two right Pz IV’s platoons but takes 3 tries so will only hit on a 6, 3 targets under the templet and 2 hits !! But both Pz IV’s make their armor save.
German turn 2 soon.

ParticipantTo all:
I am concerned that the level anaphotism (prejudice and bigotry towards people who don’t take photos) is getting a little out of hand here. Photos are for the weak-minded who have lost the ability to imagine and dream. They are a tool for the slothful and indolent. Get off your (please imagine what word goes here) and use some imagination. Don’t be weak, mental cripples who depend on digital crutches to embrace the world around you. Think, imagine, live! And leave Kyoteblue to play his games as he sees fit. Remember one man’s carpet is another man’s hill. In the immortal words of Rodney King, “Can’t we just all get along?”.

ParticipantPhotography, like the internet, is a fad anyways.

ParticipantNow now, I do need to get and find out how to use a camera with this computer so that my glories game table with 3-D hills can be shown.
Yes the 13 Trans-Siberian R R does have an accordion so kinda has an orchestra.
German turn 2, All the German platoons except the Arty spotter move forward. This cancels the Russian Arty ranged in marker. But no German units are with in direct fire range. The German Arty ranged in last turn on the Russian Inf platoon and fires a repeat bombardment. It has 6 targets and needs 3 or better to hit. 3 hits 3 misses. Russians save one stand but the German Arty fails both fire power rolls so no casualty’s. However the Russian Inf is pinned again.
Russian turn 2 soon.

ParticipantMy my….Russian turn 2, The Russian Inf platoon un-pins. Russian Arty drops on the Pz IV’s that moved up scoring 3 hits !!! but all 3 make their armored save. However the far right Pz IV platoon has moved up into range of one of the 45mm AT guns which fires 3 rounds and got one hit. The Pz IV fails it’s armored save and the 45mm AT gun rolls a 6 for fire power and the tank goes up in flames !! Capt Hassel groaned it was going to be long war……
08/01/2015 at 05:39 #15255kyoteblue
ParticipantGerman turn 3 All the Germans move up, Capt Hassel is ready to over run the Russians !! The Pz III platoon with the AC ready themselves to take on any Russian tanks should they reveal them selves. The Pz Inf de-bus into a wheat field on the far right. The Pz IV’s platoons fire at the single 45mm AT gun. But first the German Arty ranges in on it and misses!!! Time for the 8 Pz IV’s shots and only 3 hits…..but the AT gun fails all 3 saves. I roll 3 dice for fire power and roll 1, 2 and 4 they needed 3 or better so after all that fire the single gun is destroyed. Lt. Klug grins…
Russian turn 3 coming soon.

ParticipantKyoteblue:
Why is the German Infantry not clearing the AT Guns while the artillery and the tanks (which should hang back hull-down or turret-down) and pound the crap out of the Soviet positions. Combined arms dude! You’re playing into Sokolove’s trap.
Looking forward to the next post.
Shaun Travers:
Buy the Russian tanks and get in touch with your inner Soviet. I have gone down that rabbit-hole and am awash in Soviet early war armour. I am presently play-testing a group of scenarios based around the battles in the Brody-Dubno region of Ukraine in June/July of 1941. T-26’s, BT-7’s, T-28’s and yes even an historical attack involving four surviving T-35’s which made it into contact with elements of the German 11th Pz Div. Great fun and really bad Soviet kit and command and control. What could be more fun?!?
Cheers.
Rod Robertson.
08/01/2015 at 19:21 #15303kyoteblue
ParticipantRod the German Inf were in trucks in FOW the worst place you can be is in a truck. So that is why they got out of the trucks so far back to walk thru the wheat fields to move up to the Russian front lines. The Russian front line has barbed wire and mine fields across them. Then their are the Heavy MG covering the wire and mines. Then their are the 8 tubes of 82mm mortars behind the MG’s. All those stands of Infantry, the tanks and armored cars. All that V 7 stands of German Inf.
All will be explained when the Russians take turn 3.
09/01/2015 at 23:57 #15446kyoteblue
ParticipantRussian turn 3, The 13 TSRR has it’s Arty try to range in on the German Arty spotter but fails, The 82mm Mortars do range in on the Pz Inf platoon get 5 hits and one kill and pin the platoon.
The BA-10 armored cars ( Which do not have Hens and Chicks) come out of hiding and get within range of the Pz IV’s The 2 remaining 45mm AT guns also open up on the Pz IV’s.
The BA- 10’s get 3 its and kill one Pz IV !! The 45mm AT guns fire 6 shots and get 3 hits but all 3 Pz IV’s make their armor save. Not looking good for Col. Sokolove.
Note to Rod, the Mortars are very good at killing and pinning infantry…
German turn 4 soon.

Participant“Cooking with gas” ??
Am I the only one under the age of 80 here ? 🙂
11/01/2015 at 21:18 #15537Shaun Travers
ParticipantIvan, I have a gas stovetop – popular over here (there are underground pipes for it), especially as it cooks better than any of the alternatives (only mine and thousands of others opinion of course!).

I was referring to the age of people using that expression 😉
I actually prefer gas for cooking though we have electric here.

ParticipantI was not sure and erred to caution. Out here in the colonies it still gets regularly used but I think you have to be over 40 to get away with it 🙂
