Here are 2 of 5 French Battalions I recently re-based for Barry Hilton’s Beneath the Lily Banners rules for the League of Agsburg period.

Veteran Regiment Navarre first and the Clare Regiment of the Irish Brigade next.

The flags are mainly by David of Not By Appointment and I find them very pleasing.

Should you wish to see the remaing three (Berwick’s, Greder and Tournais) and 6 squadrons of French Heavy Cavary here is the link.

Very nice figures and David’s flags make the units pop.

There are another five 15mm French Battalions for Beneath the Lily Banners on my blog.  The figures are mainly from Irregular with a few Essex.  Flags are mostly from Not by Appointment.

If it is of interest here is the link.

LoA/WSS is a great period, especially the latter.

Pike is on the way out (can anyone tell me how mixed pike and shot units actually performed together?). Uniformed infantry has appeared, but without most of the lace, frills and fancy bits of later in the 18th century.

There are a lot of very nice miniatures these days. My preference was Front Rank, little cleaning up and easy to paint.

The only downside is the relative lack of information about flags and uniforms.

    Does that help? 😁

Obvious contrarian and passive aggressive old prat, who is taken far too seriously by some and not seriously enough by others.

Sorry Jim.  It is one of my favourite periods.  Just to make things worse  you could get two opposing 15mm armies from Irregular for under £70.  Or, if you like 10mm Pendraken has some wonderful figures.

Beautiful. I love this period …although not playing it often (except in its Caribbean privateers/pirates dimension).

    I’ve been re-enacting it …about 20 years ago. 🙂

On both pictures I’m the guy on the left. 🙂

I have long wanted to do my League of Augsburg dragoons mounted, dismounted and with horses and horse holders.  It was the last part that I kept putting off.  The job is now complete as far as the French go.

Regiments Firmacon (green) and Pomponne (red) are now done to the Beneath the Lily Banners requisite standard.

The BLB point being that if you stray too far from your stationary horses you might lose them.

You can see more pics of them and some French Hussars by clicking the link.

Thanks Willz.  I’m on the last lap with this one.  One more cavalry brigade to do.
