We’ve been running this pseudo campaign for several weeks now at GigaBites Café in Marietta GA. Game 6 in the not-so-connected Kursk air campaign had 6) Il-2s with a 4 plane Yak 7 escort going after a German choke point.
Germans had 4) Bf109G6s with one +2 pilot and the rest at +1.
It did not go well for the Russkies as I failed to hit anything I aimed at including the ground. Daniel on the other hand took out 3 Shturmoviks and 1 Yak and damaged one more Yak.

Lovely minis and fire markers. But ouch, that’s a very one-sided fight; any feeling for why it went that way?
Well, probably the clue would be in the flickr set descriptions ” My Yaks fail to hit anything” , which I believe is stated in just about every picture. I generally don’t have the best of luck, but in this game I did not make any good rolls for firing, missing by one in most cases. And the Il2s made their robustness roll almost every time but would make it by rolling doubles which in CY6 means they take a ‘lucky’ hit. Which in my case usually means my plane is on fire.
I really like this game, which is good because I can rarely win due to the dice.
