Thank guys!  Now I need to make some wire and shattered forest bases, but you can have a fun game in a small space with a little terrain.

    Thanks!

You can see more detail about my trenches in this post including where I ordered them from.

While not as nice as Sidney Roundwood’s 28mm sculpted trench tiles, they get the job done for me and are darned near indestructible.  They are scaled for 15mm but I use them with 10mm.

Trenches are a conundrum let me know what solution you go with.

Well, not me but for my pal.

    WW1 for the New Chums

I’m strictly an advisor & will NOT be painting a single WW1 figure for this project.

He’s already ordered 7 boxes of 1/72 figures.

    CAEH035
    World War I German Infantry
    EMH7209
    WW I American Infantry
    EMH7202
WW I British 18 Pounder Gun and Artillery Crew
    EMH7201
WW I British Infantry and Tank Crew
    EMH7204
WW I German 76mm Gun and Artillery Crew
    EMH7203
WW I German Infantry and Tank Crew
    CAEH034
    WWI French Infantry

That’s well over 300 figures he needs to paint.

I’m a great fan of scratch built and if it was me, I’d use the fabulous Mel the Terrain Tutor for inspiration:

But my pal is time poor (& cash rich). So maybe in the future…..

But in the meantime I’m pushing pre-made & painted latex ones from the Miniature World Maker company:

    https://miniatureworldmaker.com.au/products/id-6476/productlist/p-6/

For 1/72, clearly he’ll need the 25-28mm ones.

These are adequate for the task IMO.

I did ww1 using those same figures once and I strongly urge him to take a look at Early War Miniatures trenches. They look great, and you can get them prepainted. I sold mine off or you ‘d donate them.

They are also scaled for 20mm / 1:72 and I found their metal figures compatible with the plastics so you can supplement for hard to find poses like grenade launchers.

Have him take a look: https://earlywarminiatures.com/product-category/ewm-scenery-products-designs/ewm-scenery-products-designs-trenches-infantry-and-artillery-positions/ewm-scenery-products-designs-trenches-infantry-and-artillery-positions-linked-trench-models-20mm-scale/

Good game, personally, I like the modular trench systems that Early War Miniatures make:

Thanks, gents. I much appreciate the time you spend to post your worthy suggestions & recommendations.  I’ll send my pal the links with my approval.

After that, it’s up to him, of course.
