I just got back from the Pikes Peak Regional Air Show and despite the Thunderbirds getting rained out, before the rain came I had a stunning experience seeing a bunch of WW2 warbirds in flight and boy are they gorgeous and oh how great the sound. We saw a PBY, B-25, F3F, F4F Wildcat painted as a Martlet, P-38, P-40, 2 x TBF Avengers, 2 x P-47 Thunderbolts, SBD Dauntless, A-1 Skyraider and 2 x T28s and my personal highlight, a Spitfire that actually flew on D Day. They also had 2 x P-51 and 2 x F7F Tigercats but they also got rained out.
If anyone is close, they will try and fly tomorrow as well.

Always great to see and hear those WW 2 planes.
That sounds a bit good!
I’m lucky enough to see a Spitfire quite often as my work takes me to Biggin Hill on a regular basis. There is a Spitfire that has been adapted into a two seater and takes paying passengers. It is pricey, mind. About two and a half grand for a twenty minute flight! The sound of the engine is just magnificent!
