Has anyone here ever gamed the voyages of Sinbad the Sailor, from book or film?

If so, I’d love to see your suggestions, photos and links to game reports.  Scale not important.  Your ideas are what is important here.

Here’s a much loved scene from one of the films:

And here’s my favorite version of Arabian Nights:

    Thanks so much.

PS.  These are some of the 15mm figures I’m getting for exactly such a purpose:

    Any 15mm Arabic Civilians?

Not really, but I have thought about it, running a sort of narrative campaign.

I have the “Arabian Nights” rulebook from Two Hour Wargames (but it’s old), and I always wanted to use that.

But there’s also the game 7th Voyage from Crooked Games – a bit more modern – that might fit the bill

My thought exactly, though I have zero experience whatsoever creating such a campaign.  I wouldn’t even know where to start, aside from posting the question here.

    Thanks

Well, obviously you would first need terrain and miniatures for the parts of the world you want him and his companions to go to…

Once you have this, it’s just a matter of RPG ideas I suppose? Depending on how many players you intend to have.

Take a look at how I’m currently running a solo fantasy city campaign:

    • define 10 possile events for each “game week”
    • roll a random event, develop the storyline for that event
    • If the event triggers a skirmish game, play it out.

On the topic of terrain … I’ve been making scatter terrain pieces (like arid stone formations) and buying battle mats for places you might find around the Indian Ocean.  From desert to jungle and even mangrove islands.  I’ve even made a dozen or so acacia trees and lots of arid “thorny” bushes:

The only thing I haven’t started on yet is buildings suitable for that time and locale.  So grass huts and buildings are next.

Fantastic.  This is going to get my creative juices moving.

    Thanks!
