Looking for some different settings for SP games I decided on expanding my 7yW in the Carribean with the British attack on Havana in 1762. I used Stuart Insch’s Against Spain booklet as inspiration. This scenario is a beach assault to the east of Havana Harbor on the morning of June 6, 1762 by the British Lights and Grenadiers There was a small stone fort at Cojimar and perhaps a breastwork. I had no stone fort so went with a redoubt. It was a simple game to get players acquainted with the theatre and new unit types. Sharp Practice rules and 15mm minis.

Excellent. The British capture of Havana is a fascinating and often overlooked piece of history.

I greatly enjoyed your report. Thank you for posting it. A great looking game, particularly your work on the tropical forest and the British and Spanish troops. Bravo.

I imagine you have seen them, but there there is a wonderfully evocative, near contemporary series of 11 paintings by Dominic Serres in the National Maritime Museum at Greenwich. This one is of the landing at Cojimar Bay: https://www.rmg.co.uk/collections/objects/rmgc-object-11901.

All you ‘need’ now is a 1/100 scale British frigate or brig to provide supporting gunfire. 🙂

Thank you for sharing this fantastic AAR and wonderful 18th century eye candy.  Stuarts books are full of excellent ideas and inspiration.

Great looking game that covers a fascinating and little gamed topic.
