Help Me Remember A World War II Documentary

I can barely remember it, but I recall seeing it when I was very young, and the key image I remember is that it starts with the very end of the War, and the U.S. Cavalry releases its horses in the Southwestern USA as a symbolic gesture representing the war finally ending.  Since then I have never been able to find it.  I always thought it was “The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich,” but I don’t think it is.  Anyone more well-versed than I remember this one?

In fact I could be conflating it with something else, even – a film or a movie, but I seem to recall it was a documentary.  I know that’s not a ton to go on.
