I’m thinking of doing an Eastern Front WW2 project in 1/144th scale using zvezda and revell plastic kits.
Any suggestions for hex less air combat rules?
Thanks
Jim

TBH, that doesn’t strike me as a meaningful distinction. Hex movement has little to nothing to do with how a ruleset addresses aircombat.
An objective/goal is, imo, more important. So: What sort of game do you want to play?

It would be for small low level dogfight scenarios with perhaps half a dozen aircraft a side or thereabouts.
Typical Eastern Front ground attack, reconnaissance, dive bombing, fighter vs fighter stuff, that sort of thing.
Simple enough for beginners to pick up and play.
I was thinking of Sturmovik Commander, or perhaps adapting the Wings AT War system from 1/600 to 1/144?

Essentially all mandatory moves are done simultaneously, then aircraft activate in order, with the best quality pilots going first. If both sides have pilots of the same quality, they roll off each turn to see whose side gets to go first.
IGOUGO does work very well for much larger games – keeps things simple when there are 40+ aircraft on the table 🙂
For smaller games we’ve found the quality-based activation works quite well without any other changes.

Thanks for the idea.

I’ve got some old battle reports here (near the bottom). Excuse the web page formating!
