No, not the name of a third rate jazz funk band composed of a couple of ageing academics – its the title of my latest blog post about Sunday’s Waterloo 200 practice game:

Ooooh! Lovely!
Great report and some lovely pictures. I really enjoyed reading that. I’m starting to really look forward to your re-fight of the whole battle. Among your group what is the betting on who is going to win?
PS. Hougoumont and the Violets sound more indie rock than jazz funk to me (but definitely third-rate).
Beautiful, you are spoiling us with such lovey figure eye candy.
And now I have to convince some mates to start that band.
Seriously, fantastic work!

Thanks Chaps!
The betting on who is going to win? Well the more research I do for this project the more I realise the French had lost the War by Quatre Bras. Having to attack troops established on good defensive terrain with a marginal superiority of 1.25 to 1? You wouldn’t get a pass at Staff College!
But we’ll give it a damn good try!

I thought their third album was their strongest work. It all started to go downhill when the bass player, Papelotte, left to open a vineyard in the Cairngorms….
Nice looking game, by the way!
Papelotte sounds kinda cute – she certainly has a throaty voice…
