As one of my new year resolutions, I want to improve my painting skill which is basic at best… things likes layering, tones, washes are all a bit bewildering to me.

I quite like the look of the “painting war” series (especially as I have a bunch of unpainted napoleonic French staring at me accusingly). Would those more skilled at the art recommend it or have any other suggestions? (28mm naps and ww2 are my current goals)

I do quite like having a book in my hand with step by step examples as opposed to you tube clips

    cheers

The Farnsworth documents are quite good for ww2 I found – https://www.artizandesigns.com/painting-guides.php.

I did use the Kevin Dallimore\GW book a long time ago that was quite good for a beginner such as me, I recall it had a guide for SYW Prussians

(I do use youtube a lot as well for some quick references)
