How will the 3rd reich stand up to defending Normandy against modern weaponry.
How will 88s, tiger tanks, and 109 messerschmitts fare against, F16s, F18s, Mirages, A10s, Harriers and attack choppers?19/07/2021 at 16:55 #159085Nathaniel WeberParticipant
Considering they didn’t fare well against the planes of the time…!19/07/2021 at 19:43 #159094Truls Engebakken-FjellParticipant

The allied bombings was mostly ineffectual, and almost all of the beach bunkers, AA, and artillery for the German’s was operational when the invasion happened.19/07/2021 at 21:52 #159099Mike HeaddenParticipant
The initial bombing on D-Day overshot because bomber crew were worried about blue-on-blue casualties but other than that Allied air power made a massive difference. The bombing of Northern Caen, Panzer Lehr at the start of Operation Cobra plus Mortain and the Falaise Pocket however, devastated German formations.
I don’t think you need A10s to overwhelm them.

True, but as Mike said above, it was the interdiction missions that made the difference in that campaign.21/07/2021 at 10:26 #159176ThomastonParticipant
The other way sounds more fun. Fighting off the invasion with lots and lots of naval targets.
Tired is enough.
