ParticipantI’ve always been interested in them, so a look at some of the resources and some suggestions for those outside the classical 18th century period

ParticipantI do like the old books, mainly to compare how far (or not) modern rules have become. I love trying to get the old Table Top Games rules just for the nostalgia. Some where very percentage chart heavy.
Enjoy the read.Tally-Ho! Check out my blog at…..

yes it was a phase the hobby went through. Have you read Donald Featherstone? He wrote a lot and his books are worth re-reading every so often because he had a lot of good ideas about stuff we still try to get right 🙂

ParticipantHi Jim, I really enjoyed your article and found it inspiring. I also had the John Tunstill and Tony Bath books (sadly the Tunstill book has long-since disintegrated – the spines on those Shire books weren’t in it for the long haul) but I wasn’t familiar with Bill Lamming’s Medieval Campaign and Battle Rules. However, I have tracked down a copy and it is winging its way to me.

ParticipantI regularly revisit my old wargames books and rules, it’s a nostalgic thing. Plus they are well written and a good read.

It has to be said that Shire were let down on their bindings, which is why I was so pleased to have a second chance 🙂
