ParticipantLooks great, just as good as all the rest. The billboard is a great touch and makes the board more than suitable for conventions or demos because it immediately tells you the theme of the game.
Where does the little guy come from?

ParticipantThe final board, and some new ideas. I found an old black frame at work that finishes everything off.

ParticipantHee hee! And here I was going to ask if it would be heretical to retrofit some kaiju into the game!
I mean, even minus the A Bomb, blowing up Devil Reef could still awaken a sleeping Toho property, I’d imagine.
But I see you’re waaay ahead of me.
Edit: Wait — do we HAVE to imagine it?
Framed board looks spiffy, BTW!

ParticipantThe frame is a really great finishing touch and the boards look more than just amazing because of it.
Fantastic to see how everything is usable in other settings by changing a few details.
The conclusion? of a brilliant project. I look forward to your first battle reports on it.

ParticipantEverything turned out beautifully. I too would love to hear some AARs with the set-up.*
*Or with your Bladerunner project, which I find equally fascinating…

ParticipantVery excellent that it can be used in so many genres. AND OMFG YOU HAVE A STAY-PUFFED MINI!!!!

ParticipantOf course I do! It actually came with the Ghostbuster’s board game that I got for only 40.00. It is actually a pretty fun game.

ParticipantThat wooden frame really sets the thing off. Great work.
I love that on even such a small surface area, there are so many nooks and crannies for your miniatures to explore, set ambushes, and get dragged off screaming by some hybrid of the sea.

ParticipantMore great work OldBen1
Northern Monkey, I have been reading your blog for years! As for the cars, they are 1/64 scale. It’s hard to find cars from the 20s. They are all matchbox repaints. I tend not to love the garish colours they paint them. I know that the majority of cars in the 30s were actually black, so I prime them black and dry brush one colour. I found two more, a truck and another sedan. There is a guy here who sells them at the flea market for a few dollars each. As Innsmouth is crumbly, it makes it easy to weather. I really like your Gamecraft miniature buildings. You did a great job painting the mdf. It’s hard.
So you’re one of the few eh! Ive been using 1/87 scale cars for railway modelling although they are expensive, I have recently found a set of Kinder egg toy cars which are roughly 1/87 too but cost £5 for 4, they just need a quick repaint:

ParticipantI like your blog because there are not a lot of painted examples of gangsters, plus a lot of buildings.
Those cars look like Iron Man!

MemberKinder Eggs are a shared childhood memory of more or less everyone (of certain generations) that grew up in Europe. Kind of like Nutella, except they’re (disconcertingly tasty) chocolate eggs with little toys inside.
I’ve bought the occasional Kinder Egg of late, hoping to get something that might be useful as miniature gaming scenery. I remember some excellent sci-fi spacecraft (probably suitable for something like 10-12mm or 6mm) from my childhood, and was hoping for more stuff along those lines. No such luck so far. But if I ever want to do a post-apoc / modern horror fairground full of kitschy fiberglass-looking sculptures, I’m set.

ParticipantThe quality of kinder egg toys have gotten much worse over the years. Those cars would be cool.
09/01/2020 at 20:16 #129260Darkest Star Games
ParticipantI can tell you that the Kinder Eggs they sell in the US are trash. They are basically little cups half full of nutella and “white chocolate” and the toys are always uber cheap garbage that even McD on their worst day would never ponder foisting off on the devil. All because of our ultra-PC obsessed society where you have to be told not to lick a skillet cooking on a stove as it may be hot.
And yet, my buddy in Australia bought a Kinder Egg the other day and got a 1/144 scale OV-10 Bronco airplane that dissembles to fit their capsule. …sigh…
I wonder if Kinder sells their toys separate, or maybe their supplier does?

ParticipantYep they are toys from the inside of regular Kinder Eggs(or at least the regular European ones) you can get them on e-bay, it appears that Kinder Egg toy collecting is a thing(Weirdos !!)

ParticipantSplurged and bought myself a Design Preservation building on sale at a local shop. Works as the National Grocery or local shops. Hard to make a kit look weathered.
