Between work and family I’ve been unable to do any gaming whatsoever for about six months now, and it shows no sign of letting up until the youngest starts school in September, so I’ve been wondering about buying an iPad and investigating war-games to play on it.
The problem is that my googling throws up more questions than it answers. I was hoping that I could get wargames like the computer games of my youth (the old Microprose style stuff, if anyone remembers it!), but there doesn’t seem to be much for iPads. My preference is for operational or strategic level stuff, preferably 20th century, but frankly I just want to play some games and I’m open to anything really.
Does anyone have any suggestions or experience with this? All thoughts or advice gratefully received.

Well there’s an interesting point which serves to demonstrate my lack of knowledge on the subject; I know very little about tablets in general, but my wife is an Apple fangirl so our house is filled with Apple devices. Thus to me tablet=iPad. Sad, I know…I’m quite the luddite.
Well, if there’s a better tablet out there then I’m happy to know about it too!07/02/2018 at 10:08 #83852Not Connard SageParticipant
As Mike says, there are more ‘proper’ wargames for MS platforms than Apple. Besides (I haven’t tried) I imagine the relatively small size of a tablet would be a bit limiting.
Anyway, two companies you may want to look at. Almost exclusively MS though.
Steel Panthers WWII and Steel Panthers MBT are free here, and are still being updated.

You can get games like Panzer Corps, Battle for Armageddon and several others on Ipad. Slitherine ports many of their titles to ipad.
