New blog post and it’s a solo AAR tryout of the new Warlord Judge Dredd miniatures game. Plenty of pictures on the blog:

Oddly enough I just bought a few of the Dredd novels from Rebellion a couple of weeks ago as they were on sale. My son and I had been talking about the movie “Dredd” which we had both enjoyed, and I made an impulse buy as I’m not terribly interested in the Dredd comics. I will probably roasted for this, but I really don’t like reading comics, Dredd or not. Just not enough writing I guess, and I’m too much of a philistine to appreciate the coloured drawings. The idea of a massive conurbation slowly falling to pieces under its own population’s weight is intriguing though.
I actually quite enjoyed the novels. Oddly enough, I even have some of the old Mongoose Dredd figures, although just the gangs as I used them for Post Apocalyptic and Necromunda Ash Wastes gangs.
Do you need a lot of markers to play the game? There seem to be two or three on some of the figures?

You need a few markers, the ones in the pictures are injuries and pins, the larger ones are the tokens to show that a figure has taken its turn. TBH, all of these could be done away with, or replaced with smaller things, like dice. I was just using them in this game as they are part of the box set and I was trying to follow the rules as much as possible.

This looks absolutely fantastic!
All the elements have come together nicely to create an atmospheric table and game.
I actually bought Pulp Alley specifically for Dredd, because it is designed for action-adventure type settings that focus on characters. The game typically has players focusing on completing objectives (called Plot Points) rather than just beating on each other.
Parts of the table can be designated as perilous, meaning models have to pass tests to navigate them. Maybe an angry old lady swinging a bag with a brick in it, or an entire avenue being used by Boing enthusiasts, local City Def practicing or radioactive dust. Really, it is up to your imagination.
I think it is worth checking out.
One day I’ll have time to get back to my Dredd collection.

I intend to have a proper look at Pulp Alley, you are not the first to have recommended it to me for use with Dredd, so thanks for consolidating my mind on it! It sounds like it will work pretty well.
