Are you going to make any impenetrable foliage bases, as in the case of tall thick brambles meshed in between trees and bushes?

You could use a dark flock on the base board to denote thicker terrain…
I bet players will still want to push through this despite it being ‘thick’ so you can leave gaps as you currently have to simplify figure placement.

I am not planning to – these bases are used on a jungle/island mat – and I designate the terrain outside of the bases as difficult terrain where movement is at half rate. The bases themselves are supposed to be relatively easy to cross areas. My intent with these bases are to represent areas in a jungle that are not quite clearings but akin to than. That way, the jungle areas outside the bases become the difficult terrain.

Appreciate the feedback Andrew – yes, I could, and figure placement is indeed a challenge with overgrown foliage bases. I hope I found a happy medium here – and so far so good.
