    All,

    It’s 1700, 17 Sept 1939, and the kampfgruppe has lost contact with the 4th Panzer Division’s 35th Panzer Regiment on its right flank. LtCol Klink immediately dispatches a task group under 1st Lt Freitag, consisting of his 3rd and 4th Grenadier Platoons and a couple tanks from 2nd Panzer Platoon, to reestablish contact there. They are moving quickly in the failing light, hoping to meet friendly forces before the sun goes down. Unbeknownst to the Germans, the Poles have moved quickly to exploit the gap, and a small force of harried, exhausted Poles sit astride Lt Freitag’s route. Unfortunately for the Polish defenders, one of its anti-tank riflemen is a bit overeager, and so a single 14.5mm shot rings out, alerting the now-veteran German troops to the pending danger.


    The opposing forces: a small force of infantry supported by two tanks each. Aside from the Polish anti-tank rifles, neither side has any heavy weapons.

    The Germans: CO, 1st Lt Freitag, Cpl Mayer and LCpl Otjen’s Pz Mk II tanks, 2nd Lt Tausch’s 3rd Plt (Sgt Schlessinger, Cpl Nader, and Cpl Hauer), and Office Cadet Vetter’s 4th Plt (Sgt Mader, wearer of the Iron Cross 2nd Class, Sgt Lehmkuhl, and Cpl Imhofe). The Poles: CO, two Tankettes with 20mm anti-tank rifles, and five rifle squads, two with ATRs attached.


    Overview, north is up, Germans are in column on the road from center to bottom right, Poles are still on blinds.


    A helluva melee breaks out in the center, and Cpl Hauer’s 3rd Squad (bottom left, practically atop a Polish casualty figure) is cleaning up.

    Another solid win for the Kampgruppe moving on. I’ve got two more fights to write up, but so far haven’t found the discipline to sit down and do it 😉

    Kyote – I don’t, I’ve had enough of them!

    Shaun – Can’t seem to get them written, and I don’t even have a beach to blame it on!  I sure wish I did; how’s Australia feel about immigration for decrepit old white guys with no marketable skills?

    Yeehaw!!! Good AAR Just Jack! Hauer really did good taking out all those squads. Hopefully he gets over his wounds and will be back for more. Deserves more comments though!

    Wasn’t going to bother commenting on this one but kyoteblue and foxred are both right…Jack needs our attention and encouragement. Well done Jack. Really good report. Great photos and words. I like that name Jack too. And Marines are my favourite army types. Marine mammals are one of my favourite creatures. Texas is a very nice state. And I do enjoy the feel of carpet under foot. All in all I’m very happy with this thread. Yippie!!!

    Hey, welcome Foxred, glad you’re enjoying them!  The campaign is going great, hopefully I’ll get Poland finished up next weekend, I can already see it’s not going to happen this weekend.  And I’m not sure what’s going on with Kyote, he’s sure trying to drive comments!  Oh, and pay no attention to the midget animal fondler identified as Panda here, he’s harmless (and apparently off his meds again) 😉

    Panda – What the hell is going on here?  That’s a very interesting post: “Great photos and words.”  You’re doing great buddy, really easing yourself into the wargaming business.  Should be ready for a game by early 2023 at this rate 😉

    Norm – Good luck with the boardgame, but I’m absolutely looking forward to you getting back on your beautiful Hexon terrain and Pendraken figs.

    Rod – Well, you got your wish man, ‘real life’ has got me overrun.  No gaming last weekend, and I still haven’t written up games 13 and 14…  I’ll look to get some stuff done this weekend, so, as Kyote says, read faster 😉

    Close enough I suppose, my ability to be entertained by them hasn’t really progressed off their mark.

    On a related note, I’m betting you and Yosemite can shop at the same clothes stores (Baby Gap?)…

    Stop it John, you’re only allowing me to pull you down to my level; it’s a fight you can’t win, I’ve spent my whole life here.  Get out now, while you still have some dignity.  My only talent in the civilian world is being able to say things more shocking, more disgusting, more over and past the line than everyone else.  I’m not proud, but it’s all I’ve got…
