Whilst net surfing found this, my favourite game.
Yeah, I must have played this once a year for about 20 years – Superb Fun – it’s our club’s default ‘not got a game – let’s play Kingmaker’
I swore I would back the Kickstarter and didnt….. silly me.

I mostly remember it as a “not so fun” game. We tried several times to play it, but never finished a game. Perhaps it just didn’t “click” with my gaming group.
Still got the Gibson Games copy. Haven’t played it in years though.

The original game by Philmar was great, but it did basically go on forever, with everyone holed up in their stronghold with a royal heir. The Avalon Hill version helped with that a bit, but I understand the new version does actually have variants which make the game terminate
I remember the advantages of controlling the motorway network, forces could zip around England and sneak up behind you 🙂
