So in order to both remain sane and inspire the mojo, I am going to write a mini travel guide / who’s who of Kometenmelodie.
This can be small data files about places or people, factoids and or quotes.
They will of course be accompanied with pretty pictures
I was thinking about kicking off with a piece on Ishtar The Merchant, but after that what would you like to know more about?07/02/2016 at 18:43 #37966SpuriousParticipant
If it’s a travel guide, hit up the local history. Weird events, peculiar landmarks, strange happenings. Like one of the old local things for me is how the local breweries (all 5+ of them) reacted to the temperance movement coming in by organising mobs and breaking a lot of windows. Or how one unfortunate woman got buried alive. Twice. It’s that kind of detail that makes places interesting.
And some really weird stuff happens in reality so you can probably go proper crazy in places; like a time some guy tried to use gas to clear out his crop fields of local creatures but a peculiar reaction to the chemicals recently sprayed as fertiliser (plus general incompetence with regards to prevailing wind direction) lead to the locals intermittently tripping balls for the next week until a containment field was put over the source.07/02/2016 at 19:58 #37970
Ishtar the Merchant.
He travels Kometenmelodie moving between the Liao River Valley and the Badlands, selling a wide variety of goods.
He can, given enough time and incentive, find pretty much anything you want. Droids, spare parts for MCP hovercars, refined Deema extract (wink wink), earthenware, and rare and unusual weapons.
He travels in a modified Vardo Mk IV Repulsor Wagon.
It is pulled by two Jurapeds, Melanie and Susan.
At some point in his life, Ishtar lost a leg; he now has a shiny prosthetic leg, it kicks pretty hard. Some say he lost it in a fight with a razor hound or that it is the result of his alleged previous military service with the ECM, some even say he lost in a bet… Only he knows for sure though.
Whilst not immediately obvious, Ishtar also has an atrophied right arm.
Again speculation is rife as what happened here.
On the surface Ishtar is old and weak; however, consider that he travels the Liao River Valley without any sort of armed escort and is never, ever robbed.

I really enjoyed the various KR TV posts so I’ll be looking forward to this.
Any hints ?

The page will have some very short articles about features of the region.
It will have odds and sods as I think of them.
It will have a message box where you can type a question for Steve Chang to answer.
It will try to encourage two-way dialogue between the viewer and Steve.
Maybe even a users gallery…29/02/2016 at 20:06 #3890809/03/2016 at 12:41 #3926929/03/2016 at 14:08 #4001321/04/2016 at 14:02 #41020
