ParticipantFor my game at Kenilworth 2024 Guy and myself are doing the siege of Louisbourg in 1747, this is based on an imagination campaign with Bonnie Prince Charlie starting a war in America.
The game will start with two breaches in the ramparts and the French assaulting Louisbourg with the British defending. Reserves and relief forces will land from the sea. To that end I have been building a small fleet and rebasing some pirate to be generic ships crew.
Louisbourg defences under construction.

ParticipantLooking great Willz! That Bonnie Wee Laddie certainly causes trouble, as he starts a fight in India in 1755 too;). At least he’s keeping us wargamers happy!

Guy ran a campaign which ended with the Bonnie Prince defeated at the battle of heathrow, his followers were offered fight in the British army or death. Bonnie Prince Charlie was interned on St helena but escaped and now has started a war in the Americas. That is the best thing about imagination it’s all made up.

ParticipantI somehow missed the final Heathrow game, which was to be played at Chris Gregg’s IIRC. Guy’s background stuff is great and fun games to play too.

ParticipantReally interested to see how this plays out, and if it effects the world power balance in this game’s timeline.

ParticipantWe plan to run the game with very simple combat rules that are event and action cards driven, i.e. Highland regiment mutinies, French player refuses to aid American allies, forlorn hope, heroic rally, storms at sea, confusion and many more. Currently I am working out how many I will need and how often they can be used.

ParticipantI laid out the Louisbourg fortifications on the floor in the front room, it is 9 up to 10 feet in length all that is required to build is a harbour / curtain wall where the sea will be about 2 feet.
I tried several ideas for the Dauphin battery and settled for the style in the first photo as it gives three breaches in the wall.
