Obviously I am biased as I ran the game, but I assure you no money changed hands … I had the pleasure of introducing my Hungarian friend Péter Bayer to his first ever miniatures wargame. He’s written a very witty and entertaining report here.
It’s well worth a read, regardless of whether you’ve any interest in the historical battle itself (Pákozd, from the Hungarian War of Independence of 1848-1849) or the ruleset we used (BBB).
Thank you for a wonderful post an excellent AAR and first time very impressive.
That was an entertaining read, thank you.
"I saw this in a cartoon once, but I'm pretty sure I can do it..."
Not a period or a rule system I currently have any interest in so I very nearly didn’t read the AAR. Would have been a big mistake!
An excellent read, a fascinating and tightly fought game and some interesting thoughts on wargaming in general and this game in particular.
Thanks for posting
There are 100 types of people in the world, those who understand binary and those who can work from incomplete data
Lovely AAR – my favourite sentence must be, “He is a proven commander who honed his skills in hundreds of – simulated – battles.”
Arm chair general a man after my own heart. Thanks for sharing this as I didn’t know too much about BBB, looks like an interesting set of rules.

Thanks, guys, glad you appreciated being pointed towards Peter’s work. He is a very talented chap!
A sort of tangential update to this: the scenario I ran for Peter was not only his first, but also the first in the newly published book of scenarios for the 16 largest and most important battles of the Hungarian War of Independence:
“Bloody Big Hungary ’48 Battles!”
I hope this is of interest to some fellow TWWers.
