Did some birch trees I plan to use for the Swedish 1943 project, but I guess a different paint job the trunk will make any generic tree. Hope it is of some interest, more on the blog (link here) http://rollaone.com/2020/04/02/making-some-birch-trees/

A birch tree like the ones you make.02/04/2020 at 19:09 #134195jeffersParticipantI bet if you just tried you could,
Make an equally stunning wood.

I kind of hate Polyfiber though. It’s frustratingly water-repellent, and therefore PVA-repellent. Also a bit flimsy when teased out thin enough to look believable as a haze of small branches. If I could reinforce it with a diluted PVA wash I’d be mainlining the stuff in my terrain-building projects, but that’s where the water-repellent problem comes in. In any case, you’ve worked wonders with it!
I like those tree armatures as well. Were they sold by Chinese online vendors, or are they part of the product range of some model railroad terrain company I don’t know about?

Stunning wood –what? Are you crazy?
The truth is just. . .I’m far too lazy.

If you don’t feel like making your own, then just use the foliage nets made by the likes of Woodland Scenics – it’s what they use on their trees & a nice big bag will give you enough for a wood for, if not peanuts, then a packet or two of cashews! https://woodlandscenics.woodlandscenics.com/show/category/GCFoliage

Derailing this thread slightly, some time ago we discussed the colours of German AFVs at the time of your ‘invasion’ of Sweden. I recently came across this and thought it might help.

I’ve actually been considering using this to make 3mm forests rather than clump foliage. Will have to give it a go I guess. Thanks for the link!
