Slowly working my way through my new 3mm elves by Microworld. They are absolutely lovely.

    Here are some teaser pics.

Slowly, he says, while having painted a whole army.

Come off it – the third figure from the right in the second to last unit has only one eye painted –  How disgusting to put part painted figures on the table like that!

Not having managed a figure in three years, I’ll go whimper in the corner while admiring these from afar.

Lol. Maybe an army for DBA, Mat. Right now, it’s just three pike/longbow blocks, an artillery unit, a two-handed sword unit and a treefolk unit. Working on some knights, now.

    3mm!
Great job on the painting that carries off the effect.

Here are the first three Elf tercios, backed by a line of treeants (Microworld 6mm treekin). The front tercio still needs to be flocked.

    That’s a nice looking army.

The army is 90% table ready, needing only a few more units and a lot of flocking!

I pulled a strip out of each heavy infantry stand to give more room for light to catch the uniform colors. I am much happier with the result now!

The more you add, they more amazed I am and the better it looks!

WOW – an army to be proud off.  Who do you plan to fight against?

Thanks, Andrew! I have Romans and also British and German barbarians by the horde. I am giving the Romans and Brits some minotaurs, the Germans some giants, and the Romans the elven eagle riders (seem Roman to me, plus the elves have pegasi). Also, everyone will have magician stands.

I can also do elf versus elf.

It’s more of a question of which rule set do I try out first? Triumph, Hail Caesar, or To the Strongest?

Finally, there’s an entire orc horde waiting to be painted.

Need bigger pictures so I can count how many guys you have in your army.

Roughly 20-30 infantry and 10-16 cavalry per stand, Thomason. 😀

Here is an elven sacred grove with magicians:

The Queen’s Tercio defends a signal tower overlooking a crucial bridge while the main Elven army deploys behind them.

The Beacons of Minas Tirith! The Beacons are lit! Gondor calls for aid.

And Rohan will answer. Muster the Rohirrim.
    etc. etc.

That battle field looks super – compared to the older blocks of 2mm figures these really look like individuals.

Must resist – too many things on the go.

They are cheap, fun, and easy to paint, Andrew. They are the perfect break from other projects.

That’s a large army on the move. I like the river, looks very marshy.

I think I need to make the transition to the banks more gradual, however, Thomaston.
