In issue 496 of Miniature Wargames we have a great selection of rules and periods, a crafting tutorial and show report for all wargamers.
The cover features Revolution! and it asks the question “Where Is Now The Boasting Tarleton?” and features a short game of Mounted Combat for Six Players by Arthur Harman.
In Send Three & Fourpence Conrad Kinch has lots of Merry Men out on the tabletop with an historical (for the most part) Rangers of Shadowdeep game.
In Command Decision Jon Sutherland takes gamers to Talavera. Part Two is here with the conclusion of a Peninsular War Campaign.
In The Gallants of Fowley we have a naval gazer with this middle ages extravaganza from the west country from it’s recent outing at Salute. The club involved – the Cornwall Wargames Association – are also detailed in our Club Spot.
And talking of shows at Open all gunports! the Editor visits Broadside with a game and a camera. After he’d previously been to the Crawley club to see them mark Eight decades ago… a game featuring D-Day.
In Scratch Build: Tony Harwood gets the hump and widens a bridge.
In Hexes Rule we have one man’s journey into hexagonal WWII wargaming. And in Small Footprint we invite you to go small and go home and try some miniature wargames that are really miniature.
Last Word: Martin Gane talks about his hunt for one set of rules to rule them all.
Finally, we have the review sections with Defence in Depth for Figures and rules, plus we have Forward Observer for news and Recce for insightful book reviews.
Enjoy!

That 40mm redcoat looks more like a 54mm competition winner. I wish I could paint minis that well.
Hard agree Tony, that’s beautiful
Kevin Dalimore does do a spiffing job!
