I’ve just bought a load of PP 15mm Montagnards to add to my Vietnam collection. I’m looking for inspiration for painting, uniform guides etc. Any suggestions most gratefully received
Are these to be troops for Special Forces units, used as VC fill-outs, or as indig color?
As striker troops, early war uniforms were basic us green and “duck hunter” WW2 camo patterns, as well as a lot of loin cloths and other semi-white textiles. Jarai and Dega also wore black with yellow and red lines at edges for decoration.
After ’66 strikers in A-camps wore more coherent uniforms, usually same green as US troops, but also “tiger stripe” fatigues became very common. Mike force indig exclusively wore tigers.
Skin color should be mid browns and red browns, darker than lowland Vietnamese, way way darker than NVA but not as dark as Cambodians.
Hope that helps!
