I recently finished off some more 6mm Napoleonics for my tiny collection, there’s short explanation on the blog:

Thanks for looking!

I will be painting some Austrians soon, so asked at TMP how to shade white without ending up with a dirty figure through inking. One reply said to paint in Vallejo Ivory and then carefully highlight in white and do the straps etc in white. Another reply was similar but they used a smoke grey or ghost grey instead of the ivory – I have yet to try either way.
That’s how 6mms should look. Wonderful!
Thanks guys, Norm, that is some great advice, I will see if I can give it a go on the curious chaps.

Ivory with white on top worked well for me in 3mm, Norm, so I’m sure it will do well in 6mm.
Remember, with microscales, you always have to exaggerate the color brightness.
We get slapped around, but we have a good time!
I use the ivory and white technique on 15s and it works very well. So if it works on 3s and it works on 15s I think there is a good chance it will work on 6s too.
That’s good advice, thanks guys. However, the figures I am wanting to paint in white are the curious chaps on the blog. I have a way to go before I begin any Austrians in 6mm….
