I’ve decided to remodel my fantasy fort after the last attempt. In a style of a Motte and Bailey, the main gate being made up of a spiked tree trunk that’s lifted in and out of place.

Once/if the main gate is breached. Then the defenders can fall back up the steps to the Motte.

Bit more scolloping needed on the rocks. Plus filling, plus sanding to get the Motte ramparts sitting flush. Yeah, so lots to do. Not to mention the garrison and other figures from my lead pile need to be painted.

Yeah, this is the problem I have. I do it all the time and have trouble keeping scenery small. Just as well I don’t do 28mm. Can you image the scenery I’ll end up doing? I’ll just turn my house into a game board a minute.

I was working on a similar camp and the same day you post this huge thing. I wish I had the space you have.
I like the multi-tier layout, looks very defensible.

One suggestion though, maybe make the stairs go the other way, the defenders coming down the stairs should be able to swing their sword right-handed.

Finished! I’ve got a done done it. I couldn’t move the main stairs as they were glued it. But I did turn the bottom set around to have them on the right. So, the defenders coming down can shield their bodies on the left and stab using short swords as they come down.

It’s not as big as you think. I designed it with the Storage monster in mind to neatly pack away. While I was at it I decided to spruce up the crypt. This gives me five bits of scenery for my fantasy game. So will be ready to start playing soon.

    Nice.
Plenty of little scatter pieces that add extra ambience.

Oooh like the tree on the crypt.
    That is a wicked touch.

Very nice, I dig the texture on the rock face. What the patch of light colored brush made of? Are they glued to the rock or can tehy be moved around? My favorite is the campsite in the last photo. The cracked paved ground is a close second, really like teh different colors and grass growing through.

Thanks peeps. Once I’ve finished shaping the foam I coat it in a filler. In this case an external Pollyfilla which gives it more durability and the texture. As for those light patches, if my memory serves Mike gave them to me as a freebie. When I purchased the ruined temple. I mentioned what I was going to do and he said it would be nice to see another take on it other then a desert theme. He threw those in with the order. Made of different shades of static grass and light cork for the rocks. They peel off the backing paper and stick stick like hell.

The campsite can be seen more in the last chapter of my Moonstone story in the RPG section.
